Earlier today, it was confirmed that FC Barcelona have reached an agreement with Wojciech Szczesny, with the 34-year-old goalkeeper now set to come out of retirement to sign for the club.
The former Juventus and Arsenal shot-stopper stepped away from the game less than a month ago as he decided to spend more time with his family.
But following Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s season-ending injury, Barça reached out to the Polish custodian to consider making a U-turn on his retirement and returning to action.
That is exactly what Szczesny is doing now, with the ex-Juventus man expected to sign a contract with Barcelona until the end of the season.
In fact, Fabrizio Romano has now come forth with an update on the situation, stating that Szczesny will be signing his contract with Barcelona officially on Monday.
Earlier reports had suggested that the deal could be closed tomorrow itself, with medicals allegedly being scheduled as well.
However, it seems like the final formalities will take a few days to be completed and it will only be in the next week when Szczesny will officially sign his contract with Barcelona.
It means that the 34-year-old will be unavailable to feature against Osasuna this weekend, but could be available for the Champions League encounter against Young Boys or the subsequent La Liga game vs Alaves.
Szczesny left Juventus in August by terminating his contract which still had a year left. It has been reported that the player agreed to compensate the Italians if he signed for a different club.
With a move to Barcelona now set to be completed, the goalie will reportedly be paying a sum of €2 million to Juventus.
