Experts from HousingAnywhere described Lisbon as “Portugal’s most international city”, combining a “vibrant lifestyle, rich history, and a diverse expat community”.

Lisbon enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate with warm summers and mild winters. This contrast to the often dreary weather in the UK is a major draw for British expats seeking a sunnier and more pleasant climate. The temperature level goes up to 19C in April.

While Portuguese is the official language, many people in Lisbon, especially in the service industry and among younger generations, speak English.

This can ease the transition for British expats who may not be fluent in Portuguese. Some main attractions include the 16th-century tower Torre de Belém, the architectural masterpiece Mosteiro dos Jeronimos and the world-renowned aquarium Oceanário de Lisboa.
