Spain’s football year of 2024 was historic: European champions, Nations League dominance, U-19 Euro victory, Olympic gold, and Rodri winning the Ballon d’Or.
The Spanish national team has had several “golden years,” but few can compare to the remarkable success of 2024. From their triumph at the European Championship to dominant performances in the Nations League, and even club and youth-level achievements, Spanish football thrived in every aspect.
Under the guidance of Luis de la Fuente, Spain finished the year with an impressive record: 17 matches, 14 wins, 2 draws, and just 1 loss. That lone defeat came in their first match of the year, a friendly against Colombia, where they fell 1-0 in London. However, after that slip, Spain went on a near-perfect run, crowned by their victory at Euro 2024.
In the Nations League, Spain continued their dominance, finishing top of a tough group featuring Denmark, Switzerland, and Serbia, with five wins and one draw. Serbia was the only team to take a point off the Spanish side during the campaign.
