Rennes have reached an agreement with Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad for the loan of Portuguese winger Jota (25), according to a report from Foot Mercato. The Ligue 1 side has been pushing to offer the former Celtic FC player a way back into European football. Jota signed for the Jeddah-based outfit last year in a €29m deal from the Scottish Premiership giants to link up with the likes of 2022 Ballon d’Or Karim Benzema or 2018 World Cup winner Ngolo Kanté.
Jota signed a three-year deal with Al-Ittihad. However, as he struggled to make an impact for his new club, he was removed from the list of foreign players qualified to play in the Saudi Pro League to make room for more expensive and renowned signings. The Portuguese winger logged five goals and one assist in 25 games with Al-Ittihad. Sources contacted by Get French Football News understand that Jota would be very keen to sign for Stade Rennais to relaunch his career.
