Kobbie Mainoo opened the scoring for United in the 31st minute, capitalizing on poor Newcastle defending. Diallo found the unmarked Mainoo, who turned and fired home. Newcastle equalized in the 49th minute through Anthony Gordon, but Diallo restored United’s lead eight minutes later with a powerful shot from just inside the box.

Substitute Rasmus Højlund extended United’s lead in the 84th minute, scoring from 16 yards out. Newcastle’s Lewis Hall pulled one back in injury time, but United held on for the win, ending a challenging home season on a high note.

Ten Hag thanked the Old Trafford crowd for their support, saying, “As you know, it wasn’t an easy season, but your backing remained constant.”

United must win their final league game at Brighton and hope for a favorable result from Newcastle’s match against Brentford to secure seventh place and a Europa Conference League spot. Winning the FA Cup final would ensure Europa League qualification.
