Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant has never been shy about making his feelings known on a subject. It has caused him to earn a reputation as someone with a soft ego around basketball circles but it has also made him a popular player among fans as well.

Durant just helped Team USA claim a gold medal with a win over Team France and he took the chance to make everyone know it. It took a complete effort from the entire roster to win the gold, with Durant scoring 15 points to help get the victory.
Following the Americans’ win over France for the gold medal, Durant posted a photo of the team with the caption “ENTERTAINMENT & IQ”. On the surface, this post seemed innocent but it seemed to shade Germany’s point guard Dennis Schroder for comments he made earlier in the day.
After Germany lost the bronze medal game to Serbia, Schroder took aim at the difference between American and European basketball. Durant seemingly didn’t like the comments from Schroder and took the opportunity to troll him.
“European basketball is no entertainment, it’s straight IQ basketball, straight coaching,” Schröder told reporters. “Really, really high IQ guys who know how to play the game. Serbia, Greece, Spain, France, Germany, so many teams out there who know how to play, is athletic, and I think there’s a lot of people from Europe in the NBA who make some noise.”
The rest of the world has caught up over the years to Team USA in terms of overall team basketball. But when it comes to overall talent, the Americans tend to hold the crown.
Even this year, in the hardest run to the gold medal for Team USA, they still ended up going undrafted through the tournament, including the pre-game showcase matchups.
Schroder, a member of the Brooklyn Nets, is very familiar with the NBA game as he has played for 11 seasons. He has been part of a few very good teams but has never won a title in his career.
The veteran point guard is one of the leaders in Germany and takes his role very seriously. He has established himself as a star on the international stage while carving out a solid NBA career.
For his career, Schroder has averaged 14.0 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game in the NBA. Splitting time between the Nets and Toronto Raptors last season, Schroder averaged 14.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game.
