According to Eurohoops.net, nine-year NBA veteran Boban Marjanovic is heading to the EuroLeague, signing with Turkish basketball club Fenerbahçe S.K. Sources close to ESPN have also confirmed the news.
Over the course of nine seasons in the NBA, Marjanovic played for six different teams, one of which was the Detroit Pistons. A decision made by then-president of basketball operations and coach Stan Van Gundy, the Pistons signed Marjanovic to a three-year, $21 million deal during the 2016 free agency period.
During his two seasons in Detroit, Marjanovic played in 54 games (one start), averaging 5.7 points and 3.5 rebounds in 8.6 minutes per game.
Ahead of the 2018 trade deadline, the Pistons traded Marjanović, along with Tobias Harris, Avery Bradley, a future protected first-round draft pick, and a future second-round draft pick, to the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for Blake Griffin, Willie Reed, and Brice Johnson.
The 7-foot-4 Serbian center rose to popularity in recent years due to his affable personality, which drew the attention of companies such as State Farm Insurance and Pepperidge Farm Goldfish snacks.
In addition to playing for the Pistons and Clippers, the 36-year-old Marjanović has suited up for the Spurs, 76ers, Mavericks, and Rockets. During his NBA career, he averaged 5.5 points on 57.8% from the field and 3.6 rebounds.
