European Ryder Cup hero and PGA Tour star Ludvig Aberg has confirmed his participation in Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy‘s new TGL, which will debut in January 2025.
Aberg, 24, has quickly become one of the biggest stars in the game following maiden wins on the DP World Tour and PGA Tour just months after having turned professional in 2023.
He also proved a major thorn in the United States Ryder Cup team on debut at Marco Simone in Rome last season.
The talented Swede then played in his first-ever major championship last month and finished a hugely respectable second behind World No.1 Scottie Scheffler, who slipped on the green jacket for a second time in three years at famed Augusta National.
Aberg has now signed on the dotted line to Woods and McIlroy’s tech-infused golf league, which will start up in early 2025.
TGL was supposed to start earlier this year but plans were scuppered after the stadium roof caved in at the end of 2023.
With TGL heavily backed by the PGA Tour, all players that commit to the tech-infused league must remain members of the circuit.
Should any of them divert to LIV Golf, then they will instantly be kicked out of the league.
England’s Tyrrell Hatton was recently booted out of the TGL after he signed to LIV Golf earlier this season.
Jon Rahm was also part of the league last season but he decided to remove his name from TGL just months before accepting a reported $600m fee to join the Saudi-bankrolled operation.
World No.6 Aberg will now join The Bay Golf Club team, which will also consist of US Open champion Wyndham Clark, former Open champion Shane Lowry and populer Australian Min Woo Lee.
Marc Lasry’s Avenue Sports Fund revealed The Bay Golf Club as TGL presented by SoFi’s sixth founding team.
Avenue Sports Fund is joined by co-owners and NBA legends Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Andre Iguodala.

“We are excited to bring a new team and innovative game to the growing number of golf fans regionally and nationally,” said Lasry, chairman and CEO of Avenue Capital Group.
“We believe that The Bay Golf Club will be a beloved team in Northern California and beyond. We are looking forward to the launch of TGL in January 2025, and we are using this year to build excitement, energy, and passion for our team and the league.”
The Bay Golf Club marks a significant investment for its majority owner, Avenue Sports Fund.
Completing The Bay Golf Club’s ownership group are England and Man City defender John Stones, Formula 1 driver Alex Albon, and Olympic surfers Leonardo Fiorvanti and Kanoa Igarashi.
The Bay Golf Club’s logo and branding pays homage to the team’s Northern California roots.
The logo is said to marry the majestic redwood forest with the rhythmic elements of the sport.
