Air France, one of Europe’s leading airlines, has expanded its global network by inaugurating a new non-stop flight route between Manila, Philippines, and Paris, France. The service, which commenced on Sunday, December 8, 2024, operates three times weekly, connecting two iconic destinations and offering travelers seamless access to Europe and Southeast Asia.
The new route was celebrated with a pre-departure ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by key dignitaries, including the Philippines’ Secretary of Transportation, Jaime J. Bautista, Secretary of Tourism, Christina Garcia Frasco, French Ambassador to the Philippines, Marie Fontanel, and Air France-KLM General Manager for South East Asia & Oceania, Femke Kroese.
During the ceremony, the attendees emphasized the importance of this new route in strengthening tourism and economic ties between the Philippines and France. Femke Kroese expressed Air France’s pride in launching the service, noting, “We are extremely proud of this new Air France service operating non-stop between Manila and Paris, three times weekly. Together with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, the Air France-KLM group is the only European carrier with a daily service between Manila, Paris-Charles de Gaulle, and Amsterdam-Schiphol.”
The non-stop flights provide travelers with a faster, more convenient option to explore Paris, a global hub for art, culture, and history, while opening up new opportunities for Filipino travelers to visit Europe. Conversely, the route also paves the way for French and European tourists to experience the Philippines’ breathtaking destinations, such as Palawan, Boracay, and Cebu.
Air France marked the launch with traditional Filipino hospitality, greeting passengers arriving and departing on the inaugural flight with leis and lively Filipino music, creating a celebratory atmosphere that highlights the warmth and cultural richness of the Philippines.
The arrival of the Air France aircraft at Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) was a symbolic moment, further underscoring the significance of this new connection in bridging cultures and fostering tourism growth between the two countries.
The introduction of this route demonstrates the strategic importance of partnerships between governments, tourism boards, and airlines. Christina Garcia Frasco, Secretary of Tourism, emphasized the Philippines’ commitment to increasing connectivity and making the country a premier travel destination. She stated, “This direct connection with Paris enhances our global tourism profile and facilitates ease of travel for both business and leisure tourists.”
The collaboration between Air France and its partner KLM Royal Dutch Airlines ensures a robust presence in the Southeast Asia-Europe corridor. With the new Manila-Paris route, the Air France-KLM group solidifies its position as the only European airline group offering daily flights from Manila to two key European hubs: Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Amsterdam-Schiphol.
This new service not only benefits tourism but also serves as a vital link for economic and cultural exchanges. France, a prominent member of the European Union, is a key trading partner for the Philippines. Enhanced air connectivity is expected to facilitate smoother trade relations, business exchanges, and increased investments between the two nations.
Moreover, the route supports the growing number of Filipinos residing in Europe, particularly in France, by providing a convenient travel option to visit family and friends.
The non-stop flights come as a welcome addition for travelers seeking comfort and efficiency. With Paris-Charles de Gaulle serving as a major hub, passengers from Manila can easily connect to other European cities or destinations in the Americas, Africa, and the Middle East.
For French and European travelers, the Philippines offers a wealth of experiences, from pristine beaches to unique cultural heritage sites. The new flights are expected to stimulate a significant increase in European tourist arrivals, further driving growth in the Philippine tourism industry.
The launch of the Manila-Paris route aligns with the Philippines’ broader efforts to strengthen its tourism sector. As the world continues to recover from the impacts of the pandemic, initiatives like this underline the country’s determination to reclaim its position as a top travel destination in Southeast Asia.
Likewise, France, with its unparalleled blend of history, fashion, and gastronomy, remains a dream destination for many Filipino travelers. The enhanced accessibility is expected to lead to increased interest in Paris and other regions of France, such as Provence, Normandy, and the French Riviera.
The new route reflects Air France’s ongoing commitment to innovation and network expansion, particularly in Southeast Asia. With its long history of excellence in aviation, the airline continues to adapt to the changing needs of modern travelers, ensuring comfort, efficiency, and exceptional service.
This milestone marks a new chapter in the relationship between the Philippines and France, fostering deeper ties and mutual appreciation. As the skies between Manila and Paris become busier, the possibilities for tourism, trade, and cultural exchange are limitless.
For travelers, this is a gateway to unforgettable experiences—whether savoring the Eiffel Tower’s charm or diving into the Philippines’ azure waters.
