WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest women’s basketball team will get an early start on preparations for the 2024-25 season this summer, as it travels to Europe for a tour that includes three games against international competition.
This will be the first time the Deacs will be traveling outside of the United States as a team since 2019. The 11-day excursion will bring the Demon Deacons to three historic cities in Croatia and Greece, including multi-night stays in Split, Dubrovnik and Athens.
“We are so excited about the upcoming European tour,” head coach
Megan Gebbia said. “Our program is extremely fortunate for this opportunity and looks forward to making the most of it. This trip will give our student-athletes a once in a lifetime experience, where they not only will play high-level basketball, but also learn about Croatian and Greek culture. It is an incredible team bonding opportunity and we want to thank everyone who made this trip possible.”
The match schedule includes games against elite international competition, featuring the Swiss Senior National Team.
The tour will also provide the team with opportunities to experience European culture as well as seeing some of Europe’s most historic landmarks. The Demon Deacons have excursions planned to the Acropolis, Krka National Park and kayaking around historic Dubrovnik among other sights.
Wake Forest will depart for Europe on August 8 and will arrive back in Winston-Salem on August 18. Fans can follow along with the tour on GoDeacs.com as well as on the Demon Deacons’ social media platforms.
