Wrexham are hoping to secure a route towards European qualification but one former player has been in UEFA Conference League action this season.
Wrexham continue to make huge progress under Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds with a third straight promotion the target.
Phil Parkinson sits third in the League One table and will be looking to take advantage of Wycombe Wanderers’ recent problems.
Reaching the Championship in such rapid fashion would be huge for this Wrexham project, but there are even bigger goals in mind.
Wrexham are looking to join the Welsh League Cup, which would present a potential route into the UEFA Conference League.
The proposal has been met with mixed views so far, but Wrexham could be playing in European competition in the near future.
There has been Welsh representation in the UEFA Conference League this season with The New Saints featuring the league phase.
The New Saints may be based in England but they have been the most successful Cymru Premier side.
Wrexham fans will be familiar with one TNS star with Adrian Cieslewicz featuring in Europe this season.
Born in Poland but raised in the Faroe Islands, Cieslewicz started with Faroese side VB Vagur before being plucked by Manchester City as a teenager.
A couple of years with City ultimately paved the way for Cieslewicz to join Wrexham in 2009.
Dean Saunders brought Cieslewicz to the STōK Cae Ras and told Chester Live of his excitement about the move.
“Adrian comes to us well recommended and we have watched him on several occasions. He has very good pace and can operate either as a frontman or out wide, which will give us a few options,” said Saunders.
Cieslewicz went on to spend five years with Wrexham, racking up 156 appearances whilst bagging 18 goals and nine assists.
An exciting player in full flow, Cieslewicz provided a memorable equaliser at Brighton and Hove Albion in 2012, sending the travelling Wrexham fans wild.
Fans love direct players with pace and Cieslewicz was a firm fan favourite before leaving for Kidderminster Harriers in 2014.
Wrexham fans showed love an appreciation for Cieslewicz upon his return with Kidderminster, before he headed back to the Faroe Islands with B36 Torshavn.
The New Saints came calling in 2014 and Cieslewicz has been a key man for more than a decade.
Now 34, Cieslewicz has won eight Cymru Premier titles, five Welsh Cups and five Welsh League Cups.
360 games, 95 goals and 66 assists, Cieslewicz has certainly become a hero with TNS and is still looking for more success yet.
TNS have been dumped out of the UEFA Conference League after just three points from six games in the league phase.
Wrexham fans may have caught a glimpse of Cieslewicz in European action though, even if his minutes haven’t been huge.
Cieslewicz has managed four UEFA Conference League games this season, totalling just 46 minutes of action.
Playing in those games will be a dream for many Wrexham players and Cieslewicz’s journey to the European stage may be an inspiration to current Wrexham stars.
Still praised for his ‘electric pace’ on the official TNS website, Cieslewicz will always be welcomed back to Wrexham with open arms and we may yet see him play against Wrexham for TNS if the Welsh League Cup proposal advances quickly.
