A team of top sleuths believe they know who the infamous Zodiac Killer is. Investigators have been trying to track down the murderer who took the lives of at least five people in the Bay Area of San Francisco from 1968 to 1969.
The reason the killer earned the moniker was because they sent several letters to police starting: “This is the Zodiac speaking.”
A team of detectives called the Case Breakers, led by journalist Thomas Colbert, claimed that there is evidence linking former US Airman Gary Francis Poste to the notorious spate of killings.
In 2023, the Case Breakers claimed Poste, who died in August 2018, had “been secretly listed as the Zodiac ‘suspect’ in Headquarters’ computers since 2016.”
The group claims Poste’s ‘partial DNA’ was safely secured at the federal lab in Quantico, Virginia.
The Case Breakers claim to have an FBI source which told them: “Like cops, federal agents are dealing with huge caseloads, constant training, odd rules and bureaucracy.
“But when someone wearing a badge or uniform works with others to avoid or hide materials, sidestep difficult procedures, or lie about evidence, they’re hurting our volunteers and the thousands of families waiting for answers.”
The group claimed to have their own DNA of Poste that they want the FBI to test against their evidence for the unsolved murder of Cheri Jo Bates.
The FBI’s San Fransisco Office told US broadcaster Fox News that the case remained “open and unsolved” but provided no further updates.
“Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, and out of respect for the victims and their families, we will not be providing further comment at this time,” the statement said.
