World’s top 10 countries most popular with British expats revealed
New data has revealed the top ten countries where Brits have relocated to worldwide, highlighting a diverse range of destinations favored by those seeking new beginnings.
The study, conducted by relocation experts at 1st Move International, has found the countries where UK residents have most frequently relocated between 2022 and 2024.
While traditional hotspots like Australia and Canada continue to attract many, the latest trends also show a growing interest in less conventional places.

This shift reflects changing preferences and the various factors that influence the decision to move abroad, such as economic opportunities, lifestyle choices, cultural attractions, and more.
Surprisingly, only one European country has made it to the top ten, indicating a significant trend towards more distant and varied locations for Brits looking to move abroad.
The United States is the most popular destination for British expats, according to the research.
Known for its opportunities and diverse lifestyle options, the US appeals to Brits at various life stages, from students to retirees.
The country’s vast landscape, cultural variety, and the promise of the “American Dream” attract many, as evidenced by over 96.3 million TikTok videos tagged “British person living in America”.

Popular destinations include major cities like New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, as well as more suburban and rural areas offering different living environments.
The US is known for its strong economy, job opportunities in various sectors, and high-quality educational institutions.
