Bruce Walker, who recently wound up his startup support group FutureX, is behind a new venture aiming to build relationships with emerging tech centres in Europe.
FutureX helped bring early stage companies together through events such as the StartUp Summit and also led missions to Silicon Valley in California to share ideas and seek investment.
After closing FutureX, which he co-founded with Zoi Kantounatou in 2017, he announced that he was ready for a new challenge.
His latest project, Ecosystem Builders Network, will turn its attention to the tech ecosystems in Estonia, Berlin and Scandinavia.
He says that Silicon Valley is not “directly comparable” for somewhere like Scotland and that it may be more beneficial to look at progress in Estonia, Helsinki, Oslo or Berlin.
“These places seem like a more comparable journey for a start-up, rather than constantly looking at the west coast of the US as the oracle for start-up creation,” he said in an interview.
Founding members of the Ecosystem Builders Network are said to include CodeBase, Edinburgh Napier University and the RBS Accelerator.
