Sporting Lisbon have reportedly received an enquiry for Viktor Gyokeres from one of European football’s biggest clubs.
Since leaving Coventry City for Estadio Jose Alvalade in the summer of 2023, the Sweden international has transitioned into one of the best strikers in European football.
An incredible 66 goals and 19 assists have been posted in 67 appearances in all competitions, recently helped by a hat-trick against Manchester City in the Champions League earlier this week.
However, although the 26-year-old is tied to Sporting until 2028, release clauses in his contract essentially mean that he will be provided with opportunities to leave the club over the upcoming transfer windows.
Manchester United have been tipped to be the natural next choice for Gyokeres courtesy of Sporting head coach Ruben Amorim moving to Old Trafford on November 11.
Nevertheless, at a time when there have been mixed reports as to whether Gyokeres would consider a switch to the Theatre of Dreams, it appears that another club are prepared to up their own interest.

Which European club has made Gyokeres enquiry?
According to Sky Deutschland reporter Florian Plettenberg, who was commenting on X, Bayern have enquired about the situation.
Plettenberg says that the Bundesliga leaders have made contact with the relevant people to “gather information” regarding Gyokeres and his future plans.
Although no further action has been taken, it is alleged that Bayern have plans to “closely” assess Gyokeres’ development as the season progresses.
Furthermore, Plettenberg acknowledges that a number of other European clubs of the same profile as Bayern have also made similar moves, aware of the release clause that will be in place.
There is said to be a buy-out option between €60m (£49.77m) and €70m (£58.06m) in Gyokeres’ contract for the summer transfer window.

Bayern not the ideal move?
The obvious question mark over a potential move to the Allianz Arena is where would Gyokeres fit into the team when Harry Kane is already an undisputed first choice.
Regardless of Gyokeres’ stellar form since August 2023, Kane has contributed 61 goals and 21 assists in just 60 appearances for Bayern, an even more prolific return than Gyokeres.
There is potential for one or the other to play in a slightly deeper role to accommodate the other, or as a front two in one of Vincent Kompany‘s attacking strategies.
Nevertheless, it is debatable whether Gyokeres would risk a move to another club where he is not the main man when he will likely have his pick of clubs to a certain degree.
