Valencia experienced a strong influx of international tourists in 2024, with British and French travelers making up the largest share of visitors. A total of 11,938,668 tourists visited the Valencian Community during the year, reflecting the region’s growing appeal as a top travel destination.
British visitors accounted for 24.7% of all arrivals, while 18.9% of tourists came from France. Travelers from the Nordic countries represented 8.7% of the total, making them the third-largest market. Additionally, visitors from the Netherlands and Germany contributed significantly to tourism numbers, reinforcing Valencia’s position as a key European hotspot.
The report also highlighted an increase in average daily spending, rising from €126.80 in 2023 to €131.40 in 2024. Visitors spent an average of 10 days in the region, underscoring its reputation as a preferred long-stay destination. Leisure tourism remained the primary reason for travel, with beach vacations and sunshine tourism accounting for 54.9% of all trips.
Beyond traditional beach holidays, there was a noticeable increase in demand for sports and outdoor activities. In 2024, 13.1% of tourists participated in sports tourism, reflecting a shift towards more active and experience-driven travel. Activities such as cycling, hiking, water sports, and adventure tourism gained popularity, supported by Valencia’s diverse landscapes and mild climate.
Tourists also showed a growing interest in sustainable and nature-based experiences, with many exploring national parks, rural trails, and coastal routes. This trend aligns with the global movement towards eco-friendly travel, emphasizing Valencia’s potential as a destination for both relaxation and outdoor adventure.
With rising visitor numbers, increased spending, and expanding tourism offerings, Valencia continues to strengthen its position as a leading travel destination in Europe, catering to both traditional holidaymakers and experience-seeking travelers.
