Scotland have got the taste for major tournaments in recent years as they have qualified for the last two European Championships. But a World Cup place has eluded them with them, like Norway, not making one since 1998.

And they might as well not have bothered with that one!

Steve Clarke’s have a tough task to end those years of hurt, though, as they have been drawn with the loser between Portugal and Denmark, Greece and Belarus.

Denmark, should they lose in March, have become a formidable qualification team in the last few years while Greece showed everyone what they’re capable of when they won against England at Wembley earlier this year.

Scotland are going to need a string of special performances to top Group C.
