US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz says top members of President Donald Trump’s administration will hold talks with European officials this week about how to end the war in Ukraine.
Waltz made the remarks in an interview with NBC News on Sunday.
He said, “We will have our Secretary of State, our Secretary of Defense, our Vice President or special envoy in Europe this week talking through the details of how to end this war.”
Waltz stressed, “We need to get all sides to the table and end this war.” He also expressed hope that Russia and Ukraine will participate in the negotiations.
He added that Trump intends to end the fighting. But when referring to security guarantees that Ukraine seeks from Western nations, Waltz said, “The Europeans have to own this conflict going forward.”
