Big Tech’s Use Of Generative AI Under EU Scanner 

Expressing concern over the potential misuse of generative AI (GenAI) and deepfakes in the upcoming elections, the European Commission called upon several tech giants under the Digital Services Act (DSA) for information. Microsoft Bing, Facebook, Google Search, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, YouTube, and Elon Musk’s X are among those requested to provide details by the EU. The commission seeks clarification on measures taken to address risks associated with generative AI, including the spread of false information and the viral dissemination of deepfakes, referred to as “hallucinations.” These platforms are required to furnish the requested information to the Commission by April 3, focusing on safeguarding the integrity of elections.

Apple Vision Pro May See Global Roll Out

According to a report by MacRumors, Apple intends to incorporate 12 new languages into the virtual keyboard of the Vision Pro. Presently, the keyboard exclusively supports English (US) and Emoji, restricting its usability to the United States. In order to broaden the Vision Pro’s accessibility to other regions, Apple aims to include additional languages.

Spotify’s Full Music Videos Feature Rolling Out

Music streaming giant Spotify is challenging Google-owned YouTube by introducing support for full-screen music videos, but the feature is currently in beta testing and exclusive to Spotify Premium subscribers. The new feature is accessible through the Now Playing screen for Spotify Premium users only. The Swedish music streaming giant said late on Wednesday that music videos will be accessible to premium users in the UK, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Brazil, Colombia, the Philippines, Indonesia and Kenya as part of the beta phase, as the company intends to expand its user base globally.
