This European country is not known for being a typically romantic destination to visit but it has a unique tradition for the day.
Finland celebrates Ystävänpäivä on February 14, which translates to “Friends Day”.
Friends share meals, presents, and tokens of affection with one another, instead of romantic partners.
You can celebrate by exploring the winter gardens in Helsinki or you can take a trip to Lapland to catch a glimpse of the magical Northern Lights.
If you want to do something more adventurous, you can go for a romantic skiing trip in Ylläs.
While you’re there, you should visit the Old Market Hall which is home to a delicious variety of local food.

The SkySauna in Helsinki is located inside a ferris wheel car making it a special and memorable experience.
Another fascinating place to visit is Temppeliaukio Church which has a unique design.
Also known as “Church in the Rock”, this modern church is carved from rock and has a stunning copper dome.

“The views within are spectacular and the organist was playing while I was there so that was a highlight, too. Highly recommend.”
A final place you can’t miss while in Finland is Fortress Suomenlinna which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
