This pretty train ride is a journey like no other and you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to a winter wonderland as you watch the snow-tipped mountains fade into the distance.

The journey from Trondheim to Bodø in Norway takes 10 hours, and you’ll travel 452 miles through the country. 

Tickets start at just £18, reports The Guardian, and if you’re planning on taking a longer European trip, you can use the Interrail pass, which includes more than 30 stations.

The Nordlandsbanen Railway is the longest in Norway and the only one in the country to cross the Arctic Circle. 

You’ll see incredible views of forests, mountains, rivers and fjords from Trondheim before reaching Bodø, for ferries to the Lofoten islands. 

A monument in the Saltfjellet mountains marks the Arctic Circle, where passengers can see the midnight sun in summer and the northern lights in winter.

There is a sleeper train and two daytime trains, so depending on your trip, you can choose which train best suits you.

If you’re in Trondheim, the third largest city in Norway, there are a range of sights to see.

It has a rich history, a vibrant culture, and many incredible sites of natural beauty.

You can visit the Nidaros Cathedral and climb its tower to enjoy the city’s best views.

You should also take a trip to Sjunkhatten National Park, which is not a huge tourist destination. You’ll likely have the park to yourself.
