United Airlines, one of the major carriers, has reported a significant increase in travel demand to popular European destinations such as Lisbon, Portugal, and Madrid, Spain, over the Memorial Day weekend, SchengenNews reports.
This increase, estimated to be about 25 per cent higher than last year, is directly attributed to Taylor Swift’s Eras tour, which has sparked a travel frenzy among her fans. Similar price hikes are anticipated in other cities hosting the tour in the coming weeks, such as Madrid, Edinburgh, and Dublin, says SchengenNews report.
Tourism is also anticipated to rise this summer as American fans often attend concerts in Europe, where ticket prices are notably lower than for domestic shows. Owing to high demand and strict resale regulations, tickets for Taylor Swift’s concerts can exceed $1,000 as per the report.
