The Hospitality and Racing Regulatory Roadshow will visit Coffs Harbour on Tuesday 30 July, with the NSW Government’s Vibrancy Reforms a feature item on the agenda.
Senior executives from the division, part of the new Department of Creative Industries, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport, will meet with businesses, industry groups and community and Aboriginal representatives to discuss the government’s liquor and gaming reforms and regulatory priorities.
The event will include a presentation by the Office of the 24-Hour Economy Commissioner on the government’s Vibrancy Reforms, which cut red tape in areas such as noise regulation and provide new opportunities to boost live music and other entertainment options.
Hospitality and Racing Deputy Secretary Tarek Barakat said the roadshow, one of several to be held around the state this year, was an opportunity to engage personally with local industry leaders.
“We’re keen to catch up with Coffs Harbour’s liquor, gaming and racing stakeholders to discuss how we can greater support the local hospitality industry,” Mr Barakat said.
“There’s no missing the Big Banana and beautiful beaches of course, but the area has developed an impressive entertainment and dining industry that caters for both locals and the large influx of visitors each year.
“The Park Beach Hotel, Coffs Harbour Jetty Memorial Theatre and the Seaview Tavern are already making the most of changes made available through the government’s Vibrancy Reforms, now all hosting more live music through extended trading hours.
“We’re keen to see more businesses get involved with the new opportunities, so I’m particularly looking forward to the team showcasing what’s changed, what’s on offer, and answering any burning questions in the room.”
Mr Barakat said the roadshow is an important opportunity for Hospitality and Racing leaders to learn from those on the ground about the unique needs of NSW’s mid north coast communities.
“People at the grassroots of the Coffs Harbour hospitality industry, as well as the local Aboriginal community, are in the best position to help us understand their unique needs, and we look forward to meeting with them on 30 July.”
Media is invited to attend the roadshow for interviews, photos and filming
