The Computer & Communications Industry Association (CCIA Europe) is excited to announce its new infographic summarising the three key steps towards more impactful, innovation-friendly tech policy in the European Union, building on its landmark 16-page guide to smarter tech rules.
The one-page visual provides a concise and accessible summary of the steps detailed in the comprehensive Guide, accompanied by nine actionable best practices. The underlying Guide to Effective EU Tech Regulation seeks to launch an open dialogue among EU policymakers, advisors, diplomats, and stakeholders – both experienced and new ones.
Drawing from practical experience, the Guide distils valuable lessons on drafting and implementing sound EU digital rules. Now, the infographic offers a snapshot of these lessons, designed as a conversation starter that also helps readers to quickly grasp the core principles of effective tech regulation.
Indeed, the digital and tech sectors are now some of the most heavily regulated ones in the EU. This is illustrated by the more than 70 different regulations and directives pertaining to the industry that have been adopted since 2019. Based on this recent proliferation of tech legislation, several structural shortcomings in the EU legislative process have become apparent and important lessons can be drawn.
In order to kickstart a broader discussion, CCIA Europe has compiled its Guide to Effective EU Tech Regulation that reviews and analyses how EU policymaking can be improved at each stage of the legislative process.
CCIA is an international, not-for-profit trade association representing a broad cross section of communications and technology firms. As an advocate for a thriving European digital economy, CCIA Europe has been actively contributing to EU policy making since 2009. CCIA’s Brussels-based team seeks to improve understanding of the industry and share the tech sector’s collective expertise, with a view to fostering balanced and well-informed policy making in Europe.
