The Le Gruyère AOP European Curling Championships have now moved onto the medal finals, with Scotland winning the women’s bronze medal match-up on Friday afternoon, beating Italy by 6-4.

By the seventh end, Scotland led by 3-1 when their fourth player Rebecca Morrison played a double take-out to score three and move the Scottish lead onto 6-1.
In the eighth end, Italy’s Constantini played an open nose-hit to score two points and reduce the Scottish lead to 6-3. After a blank ninth end, the Scots were still ahead by 6-3.
In the tenth Scotland’s Morrison hit out two Italian stones but left one in the house to give Italy a stolen point but win the game, 6-4.
Speaking later, Scotland’s skip Sophie Jackson said, “We felt really comfortable from quite early on. We feel in a really good spot now, we’ve been building, so we’re going to try to carry on this form now.”
She added, “That’s my first senior medal skipping, so it is really special, we’ve been in a good place this week and it feels really cool.”

The bronze medal winning Scottish team are skip and lead Sophie Jackson, fourth Rebecca Morrison, third Jennifer Dodds and second Sophie Sinclair, supported by alternate Fay Henderson and coach Ross Paterson.
