Tensions have escalated between Russia and Ukraine after Russian President Vladimir Putin lowered the threshold for using nuclear weapons. Putin’s move came in response to U.S. President Joe Biden’s decision to allow Ukraine to target Russian territory using missiles provided by the United States.
Ukraine launched six long-range missiles at Russian targets. NATO countries have taken precautionary measures and issued warnings to their citizens. Sweden has distributed pamphlets advising people on how to prepare and make necessary arrangements in the event of a nuclear conflict.
Norway has also asked its citizens through pamphlets to manage a week if a situation of an emergency arises.
An escalation was witnessed on Tuesday, after Ukraine fired six long-range American missiles inside Russia’s Bryansk region. Russia has taken it as a huge provocation by Ukraine and it is highly-likely that it will respond in retaliation.
Denmark also asked its citizens by sending them emails to stock dry rations, water and medicines so they can spend three days, at least, during the crisis. Finland too asked its citizens to be prepared in the situation of crisis as tension escalated between Russia and Ukraine.
Finland has already joined Nato last year while Sweden became Nato member in the month of March this year.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has made it clear that he is unwilling to reconcile with Russia, and the use of American missiles has proven this stance.
