Robin Wauters, the founder of Tech.eu and a well-known journalist, has announced his departure from Tech.eu, Webrazzi, and the EIC Scaling Club initiative.
“Today is my last day at Tech.eu, the European tech media, market intelligence, and events company I co-founded almost 11 years ago. It feels like the right time just after the third Tech.eu Summit, and almost three years after the company was acquired by Webrazzi founder Arda Kutsal and his team,” he posted on LinkedIn.
Wauters revealed that he will take some time off to consider his next career moves.
Since its founding in October 2013, Wauters has grown Tech.eu to become one of the leading sources of European tech news, data analysis, and market intelligence, assisting investors, corporates, policymakers, and other professionals in navigating the region’s vast potential.
“I feel very grateful for the opportunity of having started and led Tech.eu in a time during which the European innovation ecosystems have evolved in countless ways. I will forever cherish having been a small part of that, but mostly having claimed a front-row seat to their growth and development,” he says.
In 2021, Webrazzi, a Turkish tech startup media firm acquired Tech.eu for an undisclosed amount.
During his 11-year tenure at Tech.eu, he has been a part of numerous editorial work, data-driven market intelligence reports across investment stages, geographies, and sectors, and bespoke event, research, and consultancy services.
“It feels like the right time just after the third Tech.eu Summit, and almost three years after the company was acquired by Webrazzi founder Arda Kutsal and his team,” adds Wauters.
Wauters says he is confident in the Webrazzi team’s ability to grow and develop Tech.eu further.
In 2023, Robin Wauters joined the EIC Scaling Club to build a stronger European deep tech community through strategic management and communications.
“I’m passionate about learning new things, and I want to challenge myself for the next phase of my professional career. Those things are really important to me – enough to make a ‘clean-cut’ and put my focus entirely elsewhere going forward,” he adds.
As for his future, Wauters hinted at having some ideas for the next steps and engaging in interesting conversations about potential opportunities.
“Although I have some ideas on what the next steps should look like, and I’ve had some interesting conversations about that recently, the reality is that I haven’t quite figured it out yet. I want to make sure I take the necessary time to make an informed decision,” he adds.
He also announced his intention to take an extended break to rejuvenate and focus on personal pursuits, including spending time with family and friends, reading, music, nature, and health.
“After my mini-sabbatical, I’ll have more great conversations – now that I’ll have the time to do so – and we will see where the chips fall!” he says.
