Over the final few months of the season, clubs through the top half of the Premier League table will be battling for European places as they compete in domestic league action.

Aside from the eventual title winners, at least three (probably four) other clubs will earn passage to Europe’s top competition, the UEFA Champions League, while at least four other clubs will qualify for the Europa League and Europa Conference League.

Additionally, those competing in Europe this season are also playing for their country’s chance at an additional qualifying spot next season.

The Sporting News brings you a look at which clubs are seeking spots in each various competition.

Which Premier League teams have qualified for Europe?

Here is a breakdown of the Premier League teams seeking to qualify for Europe in 2025/26.

There are a few things to keep in mind that would affect this qualifying setup:

• It is expected that the Premier League will qualify for a fifth Champions League position via UEFA coefficient. IF this does not happen, it will see the qualifying positions adjusted by one place across all three competitions.
• The winner of each European competition in 2024/25 will earn an automatic berth in the competition above the one they won. IF a Premier League club wins a European competition and has already automatically qualified via the table, their place will fall to the next club which has not already qualified for the indicated competition.
  • A total of seven Premier League clubs theoretically COULD qualify for the Champions League, if they get the extra fifth slot and an English club wins both the Champions League and Europa League this season. In total, 11 Premier League clubs COULD qualify for Europe if they get the fifth Champions League place and an English club wins all three European competitions this season.
• The winners of the 2024/25 FA Cup will qualify automatically for the Europa League league phase. IF the winner of the FA Cup has already qualified for the Champions League or Europa League via table position, this qualifying position will fall to the next-highest team in the table not to have qualified for the Europa League.
• The winners of the 2024/25 EFL Cup will qualify automatically for the Europa Conference League league phase. IF the winner of the EFL Cup has already qualified for the Champions League or Europa League via table position, this qualifying position will fall to the next-highest team in the table not to have qualified for the Europa League.
  • Newcastle and Liverpool are in the EFL Cup final. If Newcastle win, it would guarantee them a position in Europe next season regardless of table position, whereas if Liverpool win, their position would fall to the next highest table position. This would also be the case if Newcastle win and go on to finish in a Champions League qualification spot.

Will the Premier League get a fifth Champions League spot?

Two European leagues will earn a fifth Champions League position in the 2025/26 competition. It is determined by UEFA coefficient based solely on performances in European competitions this season.

It is expected that the Premier League will earn a fifth Champions League position in next year’s competition. In fact, according to Opta’s calculator, there is a 97.9% chance that Premier League clubs will be amongst the two top performers this year, with only Italy and Spain otherwise in contention for the two places.
