The world celebrated the arrival of 2025 with spectacular fireworks displays and galas.
New Zealand and Australia were some of the first countries to celebrate with fireworks displays at Auckland’s Sky Tower and Sydney’s Harbour Bridge.
They were soon followed by Asia, which saw fireworks displays in Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbour and the Taipei 101 Tower in Taiwan.
The Middle East joined in and despite the overthrow of the Assad regime and uncertainty about its future, Syrians still found time to celebrate.
Europe soon joined the festivities with colourful fireworks celebrations at Berlin’s Brandenburg gate and the London Eye.
The rest of America heralded the new year with thousands of people at the Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro and New York’s Times Square for the famous ball drop.
