The Bulgarian Football Union (BFU) and the Municipality of Sofia are organising a Mini European Football Championship for mixed school teams on the eve of Euro 2024, BFU said in a press release on Wednesday. The event is scheduled to take place between May 30 and June 1 at the Vasil Levski National Stadium in Sofia.
Over 750 children, second-graders to fourth-graders, divided in 56 teams, will participate in the competition.
The initiative is part of the UEFA Grassroots programme, which aims to promote football among children.
During the tournament, there will also be various social and educational campaigns, quizzes and games.
