Viktor Gyökeres (26) is set to be one of the most sought-after players in world football over the course of the next few months. Many of Europe’s top clubs are looking to sign the Sporting CP striker, but not Paris Saint-Germain, as Foot Mercato report.
The Sweden international has already netted an incredible 24 goals in just 21 games this season. Any and every European power-house has been linked with the highly-coveted Sporting forward, including PSG. Foot Mercato understands that the striker, who according to now-former Sporting manager Ruben Amorim, is valued at around €100m by the Portuguese club.
PSG were one of the clubs to display an interest, according to Foot Mercato. Luís Campos, in order to get ahead in the race to sign Gyökeres, met with the player’s entourage and did the necessary groundwork to lay the foundation for a potential deal. However, when Campos brought up the deal with Luís Enrique, the latter was reticent.
Luís Enrique was not keen on the idea of signing the striker, despite PSG currently lacking options in this department, and told Campos that if Les Parisiens were to sign Gyökeres, he would play very little.
