JERSEY has the second-highest rate of interest in online gambling in Europe, according to new data.
iGaming experts Kongebonus found that there were an average of 915 searches for online-gambling-related terms per month per 100,000 people in the Island. The number-one searched-for term, at 173 monthly searches, was “online slots” .
Only The Netherlands had more searches than Jersey per head of population, with 1,045 monthly searches per 100,000 people.
Malta was third with 825 monthly searches per 100,000 people. The UK was sixth with 669.
A spokesperson for Kongebonus, which produced the data, singled out Jersey’s entry to the top-ten list, saying it was “interesting” to see the Island place second “with such a high volume of searches per 100,000 people, as the country is such a small island”.
The spokesperson added: “This can also be said for Malta in third, another online gambling capital, which is a small European island nation.”
