Helmerich & Payne purchases European drilling company for nearly $2B
Helmerich & Payne, Inc. announced it is purchasing KCA Deutag International Limited for $1.9725 billion in cash.
KCA Deutag is a diverse global drilling company with a significant land-drilling presence in the Middle East, with additional operations in South America, Europe and Africa.
The company was founded in Germany in 1888 and is now headquartered in Portlethen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
In addition to its land operations, KCA Deutag has asset-light offshore management contract operations in the North Sea, Angola, Azerbaijan and Canada. KCA Deutag’s Kenera segment comprises manufacturing and engineering businesses, including Bentec, with three facilities serving the energy industry, representing a longer-term growth opportunity, a news release said.

“KCA Deutag’s assets and operations will add resilient revenues, providing greater earnings visibility and cash flow generation. As a result, we expect to generate sizeable incremental cash flows and are confident this transaction will deliver near- and long-term growth and value creation for H&P shareholders,” Lindsay said.
Founded in 1920, Tulsa-based Helmerich & Payne, designs, fabricates and operates high-performance drilling rigs.
US Aviation building new hangar at airport
US Aviation announced construction of a new hangar at Tulsa International Airport.
The expansion will double the company’s operational space, enabling US Aviation to better accommodate the increasing demand from private and corporate clients, a news release said.
The new hangar, set to be completed in June of 2025, spans 51,972 square feet. The total investment of the project is nearly $6.8 million.
US Aviation has been a cornerstone of Tulsa’s aviation community since 1987, the release said.
“We are thrilled to start this much needed expansion project,” said Roger Hardesty, US Aviation owner and CEO. “Over the past few years, we’ve seen a significant rise in demand for our services. Doubling our space will allow us to serve more customers and continue to set the standard for excellence.”
Sustainability Alliance recognizes 30 organizations
The Sustainability Alliance hosted its Scor3card Annual Celebration, “recognizing outstanding sustainability accomplishments by organizations at local, regional and national levels,” the nonprofit said.
Scor3card members who demonstrated significant progress in sustainability initiatives across their operations, workforces and communities.
The annual celebration recognized 30 organizations, including aerospace engineering, manufacturing and nonprofits who made a collective impact across various categories for their efforts in sustainability, a news release said.
“Passionate and forward-thinking, the Scor3card members have shown commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship,” said Corey Wren Williams, executive director of The Sustainability Alliance. “Their innovative projects, community engagement and achievements in energy efficiency, waste reduction and conservation efforts set a leading example for businesses across multiple industries. The Scor3card program is proud to have such dedicated members, guided by expert volunteer coaches. Together, they are building a more sustainable future.”
