Cristiano Ronaldo won the European Championship in 2016 when his Portugal side beat France 1-0 in extra time, thanks to a long-range strike from Eder.
Ronaldo started the game but was forced off through injury after just 25 minutes of the final.
He was injured after a collision with Dimitri Payet in the ninth minute and it was later reported that the then-Real Madrid star suffered a grade 1 anterior cruciate ligament sprain in his left knee.
Ronaldo made his mark on the Euro stage during his debut in 2004, scoring against Greece. By the end of Euro 2016 he had equalled Michel Platini’s record of nine goals in a single tournament. With an additional five goals at Euro 2020, Ronaldo now stands alone as the all-time top scorer in Euros history with 14.
Euro 2024 sees Ronaldo participate in a sixth European Championship, a feat unmatched by any other player.
