Hyderabad: The Crime Investigation Department (CID) on Wednesday said two persons associated with a job fraud were arrested from KPHB. The victims are from across south India.
Police said that G Sunil Kumar, director of Abroad Study Plan Overseas Educational Consultancy, and his associate C Navyasri were arrested. The consultancy has a branch in KPHB. They were arrested based on the complaint given by a victim, Ch Kamalakar from Karimnagar. He accused the consultancy of duping him by sending him abroad with a fake appointment letter. Both Kamalakar and his friend Sunil paid 8 lakh each in the hope that the consultancy had found a job for them in Malta, Europe.
After the victims went to Malta holding job offer letters, they realised that the letters were fake. Later, they returned to India. The victims suffered financial loss due to the fraud and lodged a complaint against 12 accused. A case was registered by the Karimnagar police and later it was transferred to CID.
The key accused in this case were identified as Anil Kumar, Sunil Kumar, Sai Ravi Teja, Sai Manoj, Shubham, Vasmi, and a few others. The accused have their offices in Hyderabad, Delhi, and Vijayawada. There were over 100 victims from different places in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka, who paid 5 lakh each to the consultancy in the hope of getting employment in Malta.
“We appeal to the public not to approach overseas visa consultancies not registered with the Protector General of Emigrants for overseas employment,” police said.
