On Saturday night, we’ve got some monster clashes in Europe.
Napoli host Inter in Serie A, Real Betis entertain Real Madrid in La Liga, and Lille travels to PSG in Ligue Un.
Our European football guru, Oli Nixon, landed all three of his picks last weekend; let’s see what he has in store for us for Saturday.
5:00pm Napoli v Inter Milan – Amir Rrahmani to commit 1+ fouls and Over 3.5 Napoli corners
5:30pm Real Betis v Real Madrid – Jesus Rodriguez to be fouled 2+ times and Lucas Vasquez to commit 2+ fouls
8:05pm PSG v Lille – Mitchel Bakker to commit 2+ fouls
Serie A match at the Diego Maradona Stadium, Napoli
TV: OneFootball, 5pm
Our first stop is the blockbuster clash at the top of Serie A, where new leaders Inter Milan travel to a Napoli side just one point behind them.
Amir Rrahmani is no stranger to drawing the attention of referees, committing 1.19 fouls per 90 this season. He’s committed at least one offence in all but one of his last 15 appearances in all competitions and made four fouls in the reverse fixture.
Napoli will need to make home advantage count in this game and should go on the attack from the off. In home games this season, they’ve averaged 7.42 corners, with at least four in 11 of 12 matches. Inter concede 4.08 per away game, and with this being such an important game, we can expect Napoli to match this average at least.
La Liga match at the Estadio Benito Villamarín, Seville
TV: Premier Sports 1, LaLigaTV, 5:30pm
Having won their last two La Liga games, Betis is back within touching distance of the top six, whereas opponents Madrid are level on points at the top of the table with Barcelona.
Betis’ strong form has been thanks in part to their wingers Antony and Jesus Rodriguez. The latter draws 3.79 fouls per 90 minutes as opposition right backs struggle to contain him. He’s been fouled two or more times in each of his nine starts in all competitions this season.
Opposing Rodriguez will be Lucas Vasquez, who himself has made 1.1 fouls per 90 minutes, which isn’t huge. However, when the last four opposition right backs against Rodriguez have committed 15 fouls between them, he’ll do well to avoid making at least two.
Ligue Un match at the Parc des Princes, Paris
TV: Ligue1Pass, 8:05pm
Our final pit-stop sees runaway Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain look to continue their stellar form against a Lille side scrapping for a top 3 place.
Lille are committing 12.1 fouls per game and so fouls look a good place for a bet and Mitchel Bakker is very nicely priced considering his average of 1.86 fouls per 90. He’s made 12 fouls across his last 5 away starts, being booked twice and he even saw red in his previous start on the road before those matches.
Playing on Lille’s left-hand side, Bakker will be dealing with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Desire Doue, who draw 4.63 fouls between them. So he’ll be kept incredibly busy and will have plenty of opportunities for late challenges.
