Unverified accounts suggest an explosion may have taken place at the European Parliament Quarters in Brussels, Belgium’s capital. Numerous individuals on social media claim to have witnessed flames emanating from the building. However, official confirmation is currently unavailable. Time Now has contacted the Brussels Fire Department seeking clarification on the reported incident.
Locals in Brussels posted videos on X, platform formerly known as Twitter, Facebook and Reddit claiming they could see smoke near the European Parliament building. Journalist Alex Cadier posted about the fire saying, “a large fire has broken out on the top floor of a building in Brussels’ European quarter.”
“We just heard a very loud explosion coming from the building.” He added that police say “we don’t know exactly what’s going on, there may be ‘cannisters’ in there”.
“What’s going on at the European Parliament? We all heard an explosion and there’s smoke! #Brussels” another person added.
“Huge explosion around the corner rue Froissard-rue Belliard in Brussels. Be careful and avoid the area,” a third one tweeted. None of these reports could determine the cause of the said explosion.
