INFINITUM, the 45-hole golfing paradise on the Costa Dorada, has announced a major renovation of its popular Hills course that is set to cement the layout’s status as one of Spain’s best.
The par 72, 6,378-metre Hills course, originally designed by Alfonso Vidaor, will be redesigned by European Golf Design led by Dave Sampson, designer of the Marco Simone course in Rome for the 2023 Ryder Cup.
Work will begin this December and during the first nine months of renovation, players will be able to enjoy a course made up of the first nine holes of Hills and the nine holes of Ruins, a unique layout designed by Greg Norman.
The second and final phase of renovations will see the Hills’ front nine holes closed and is expected to continue into early 2026.
Among those to experience the temporary Hills/Ruins composite course will be some of Scandinavia’s finest emerging talents when the Denmark-based ECCO Tour visits INFINITUM for the first time in winter 2025.
The news follows February’s announcement that the Lakes course – another Norman design which hosts DP World Tour Qualifying School Final Stage every year alongside the Hills – is currently undergoing an €800,000 bunker renovation project which will be ready and bedded in for the arrival of the hundreds of DP World Tour hopefuls in November.
The trio of courses are complemented by an extensive line-up of practice facilities, which has attracted training camps from national golf federations around Europe and was bolstered by the addition of a Callaway Fitting Studio last year.
Joaquín Mora Bertrán, Deputy General Manager of Golf, Beach Club and F&B at INFINITUM, said: “As our real estate, lifestyle and leisure offering continues to grow at INFINITUM, it’s never been more important to us that our golf courses are held to the same world-class standards.
“We are very proud of the Hills course, which enjoys some of the finest views and most exciting holes in Catalonia, but as with any golf course we are striving to elevate it even further and ensure that INFINITUM continues to be regarded as one of Europe’s must-visit golfing and lifestyle destinations.”
