With the upcoming start of the European Football Championship, the number of flights in Germany is also increasing significantly. The airport coordinator Fluko has integrated more than 600 additional take-off and landing times into the short-term traffic planning for the major sporting event.

From June 14 to July 14, football fans, teams and officials will travel to games and events, which will have a significant impact on flight volumes. According to a report in the “Rheinische Post”, Fluko has been allocated a total of 609 slots for flight movements in connection with the European Championship.

The airport association ADV had already expected around 500 additional flights in connection with the European Championship in June. These additional flights not only include special flights for football fans from all over Europe, but also the arrival and departure of teams and associations.

In addition, some airports offer the opportunity to watch European Championship games directly on site. Frankfurt Airport, for example, is planning seven public viewing areas, three of which will even be set up behind the security checkpoints, as operator Fraport announced on Monday.
