Nestled on the Balkan Peninsula and the Adriatic Sea, Bosnia and Herzegovina shares borders with Serbia, Montenegro and Croatia.
Sarajevo, its capital, sits along the Miljacka River, nestled in a valley and surrounded by mountains.

For Em’s four-day escapade, she only had to shell out a mere £158.44, which covered “flights, accommodation, food, activities, transport – literally everything.”
Bosnia and Herzegovina, a country dominated by the central Dinaric Alps, boasts of nearly half its land covered in lush forests and a mere 20 miles of coastline.
The nation experiences a moderate continental climate, characterised by hot summers and snowy winters. In contrast, Herzegovina, the smaller southern region, enjoys a Mediterranean climate.
Sarajevo is one of the few major European cities where you can find a mosque, Catholic church, Eastern Orthodox church, and synagogue within the same neighbourhood.
Top attractions in Sarajevo include the City Hall, the War Childhood Museum and Galleria 11/07/95 as well as the Tunnel of Hope and the cable car.
Other cities worth visiting include Banja Luka and Prijedor in the northwest, Zenica in the central region, and Mostar, the largest city in the southern region of Herzegovina.
The town, with its “small but thoroughly enchanting town centre,” is located on the Neretva River and once served as the historic capital of Herzegovina.
Must-see sights include the Hamam Museum, the popular Stari Most Bridge, Kajtaz House, and the Kosko Mehmed Pasha Mosque.
