When people think of good food they think of pasta in Italy, sushi in Japan or tacos in Mexico. No matter where travellers go around the world most people’s holidays seem to revolve around food.
Now, research has found the best destinations for food, according to TasteAtlas.
The team looked at nearly 500,000 ratings from across 17,073 cities on its database.
And it turns out that many of the locations are not too far from the UK either with most of the top 10 being in Europe.
Naples secured the top spot thanks to being the home of pizza, lasagna and macaroni. However, the stunning city was not the only Italian destination on the list.
Milan scored silver thanks to dishes such as risotto and panettone both hailing from the popular hotspot. Let’s not forget that travellers will need something to wash the food down with as Campari originates from Milan.
Italy scored the top three spots with Bologna earning third place. The city is surprisingly famous for spaghetti bolognese, ragu and tortellini.
Despite, being a heavily featured Italian list other popular cities did make the 10 including Paris, Vienna and Mumbai.
Meanwhile, the UK failed to make the top 30 cities along with Hong Kong, Barcelona, Ho Chi Minh, Bangkok, and Amsterdam all missing out.
