New Delhi: The UEFA Euro 2024 is coming to an end in Berlin, with Spain and England facing off at the Olympiastadion. Coaches Luis de la Fuente and Gareth Southgate both aim to lead their teams to victory. Spain did an amazing job in the tough ‘Group of Death’ (Group B), winning all their games: 3-0 against 2018 World Cup runners-up Croatia, 1-0 against reigning European champions Italy, and 1-0 against Albania. They were the only team to finish the group stage with perfect points and a flawless defense. In the round of 16, they overcame a surprising challenge from newcomers Georgia, winning 4-1.
England’s journey was tougher. After an easy win in their opening match against Serbia, they struggled in draws against Denmark and Slovenia, looking out of sync and weak in attack. In the round of 16, Jude Bellingham’s equalizer and Harry Kane’s late goal got them past Slovakia. In the quarter-finals, Bukayo Saka shined in a penalty shootout win against Switzerland (5-3). Their best game came in the semi-finals against the Netherlands, where Ollie Watkins’ late goal secured a 2-0 victory and a spot in the final.
As the final approaches, Spain’s unbeaten team aims to keep up their strong performance, while England looks to end their 58-year wait for a major trophy and get revenge for their loss in the 2021 Euros final.
