Cherenkov Telescope Array Observatory established as European Research Infrastructure Consortium
The European Commission has allocated an important EU legal status to a planned major astronomy infrastructure, which said the move should speed up its construction.
On 7 January, the Cherenkov Telescope Array Observatory announced that the Commission had made it a European Research Infrastructure Consortium (Eric)—a designation intended to facilitate the establishment and operation of research infrastructures of particular European interest, which must meet certain criteria.
