Since 2004, the European IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championship has awarded the best in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Considered the most prestigious BJJ tournament, the open championship is one of the last stops before Worlds. The competition returns to Portugal for the first time in five years for a multi-night affair.

Wellington Diaz, Michael Langhi, Lucio Rodrigues, and Luana Alzuguir are some of the most accomplished competitors in the European IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championship. Gutemberg Pereira won twice last year, while 21-year-old Micael Galvao earned a massive win within his division. Several fighters have gone on to compete in MMA.

• Dates: Friday, January 17 – Saturday, January 25

The European IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championship starts on Friday, January 17 at the Pavilhao Multiusos de Odivelas in Lisbon, Portugal. It ends on January 25 and will be held at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

22 black belt World Champions are set to compete this year. Ten-time World and six-time European Champion Gabrieli Pessanha looks to win more gold, while 2019 World Champion Matheus Gabriel returns to competition for the first time since 2023.
