Monday night’s football fixtures finds us looking for value in the Premier League, Serie A, La Liga, and Primeira Liga.
Our football tipster, Paddy Murphy, is on hand and gone in search of value and has four picks for us.
Let’s dive into it.
7:45pm Lazio v Cagliari – Lazio to win & over 1.5 goals
8pm Fulham v Brentford – Both teams to score, yes
8pm Celta Vigo v Getafe – Both teams to score, yes
8:15pm Nacional v Santa Clara – Over 1.5 Santa Clara goals
Serie A match at the Stadio Olimpico, Rome
TV: TNT Sports, 7:45pm
Lazio are quietly going about having a rather good Serie A season so far. The Eagles have only lost three games all season, and their recent league form has seen them take 12 points from a possible 15 and score a healthy 13 goals.
On home soil, they’re undefeated in the league, winning four and drawing one, scoring 12 and conceding five.
Cagliari have been on the wrong end of two 2-0 defeats of late and they’ve been rather poor on the road, winning just one of their four away league games this far, scoring four goals and conceding six.
The hosts should be winning here; we’re likely looking at a 2-0 or 3-0 scoreline.
Premier League match at Craven Cottage, London
TV: Sky Sports Premier League/Main Event, 8pm
Fulham were starting to look good there for a while. So much so that the usual punters were beginning to utter the immortal backhanded words, “XYZ is doing a fantastic job at XYZ” in regards to head bottle-washer, Marco Silva. However, the Cottagers have now taken just one point from their last three games.
They’re going to have to lean on their home form here. Over their four league games, they’ve won two, drawn one, and lost one, scoring seven and conceding six.
Brentford’s Thomas Frank has also been labelled as ‘doing a fantastic job’ particularly when his name was connected to the temporally empty seat at Old Trafford vacated by Erik ten Hag.
The Bees have won two, drawn one, and lost two over their last five in the league, but their away form is quite poor, with four losses on the bounce this season, where they’ve scored three and conceded nine.
The host’s lack of clean sheets, matches with Brentford scoring in all but one of their league games this season, means we’ll take the cautious value and back both teams to get on the scoresheet.
La Liga match at the Estadio Abanca-Balaídos, Vigo
TV: Premier Sports, LaLigaTV, 8pm
Both sides’ results have not been good lately. Celta Vigo and Getafe have won just one of their last five matches.
Vigo’s home form has seen them win three of their six games, draw one, lose two, score 10, and concede seven.
Getafe have gone undefeated over their last four in the league but have only chalked up six points thanks to one victory and three draws. Looking at just their away games only, we see that they’ve drawn two and lost three, scoring three and conceding six.
The question then is whether the away side will score, and with the hosts conceding in all six of their games at the Abanca-Balaídos this season, Both Teams to Score also have value here.
Primeira Liga match at Estádio da Madeira, Funchal
8:15pm
Nacional have failed to win any of their last six fixtures in all competitions and in the league have won just one of their last five, drawing one, and losing three. On home turf, they’ve only played three league games where they’ve won one and lost two, scoring three and conceding nine.
Santa Clara are having a great season, currently sitting in fourth at the time of writing. Over their last five Primeira Liga fixtures, they’ve won three and lost two, while on their travels have won two and lost two, scoring seven, and conceding six.
With the hosts conceding so many and the away side in ripe form, there’s some very good value to be had in backing the away side to net twice.
Lazio v Cagliari – Lazio to win & over 1.5 goals
Fulham v Brentford – Both teams to score, yes
Celta Vigo v Getafe – Both teams to score, yes
Nacional v Santa Clara – Over 1.5 Santa Clara goals
