Former Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Leonardo Campana has admitted he intends to return to Europe at some point, despite his failed spell at Molineux.
The striker has been speaking to Front Page about his career to date and the ‘outstanding debt’ he has left in Europe after his time at Wolves.
Campana currently players for Inter Miami in MLS after joining them in a €2.7m deal from Wolves in January last year.
He had originally moved to Europe with Wolves from Barcelona SC in Colombia in January 2020 but failed to establish himself at the club, failing to make a single appearance for them.
Thus, he was moved on to Inter Miami, where he has since flourished, bagging 31 goals and eight assists in 96 games to date.
The 24-year-old appears to have really found his feet and, despite his misery at Wolves, wants to get back to Europe at some point to prove his point.
“That Wolverhampton was flying in 2020, we had a great team, I had to be on the bench. Raúl Jiménez, Adama Traoré, Diogo Jota, Pedro Neto, Joao Moutinho, Ruben Neves,” he said.
“The pandemic came, and I couldn’t find my way, I went on loan to Portugal, Switzerland… and I went through difficult times due to my injuries.
“Here in Miami, they opened the doors for me, they made me feel special and my career began to take a new direction. I am very grateful to the technicians I have had here and to the team owners.
“I would love to return to Europe, I owe myself a debt, I leave everything in the hands of God.”
