Finally cheer on your favourite team again! The 2024 European Football Championship is just around the corner and fans are already eagerly awaiting the first match on June 14th (Germany vs. Scotland). After an agonising three years, it’s time to unpack the flags, put on the jerseys and prepare for a soccer festival.
However, the European Championship is not just a major sporting event, but also a social highlight that brings people together – whether it’s relaxing on the couch at home, having a barbecue together in the garden or at a public viewing with hundreds of fans. For many, it is the absolute highlight of the year – and Vienna is no exception.
Rathausplatz is probably the best-known place for public viewing in Vienna. During the European Championships, the square in front of the majestic Vienna City Hall will be transformed into a huge fan zone. With large screens, plenty of seating and a wide range of food and drink, the Rathausplatz offers everything a soccer fan could wish for. The central location and the impressive backdrop make this place a must for every fan. In order to provide fans with the best possible food and drink during the matches, over 20 caterers at this year’s film festival will open their stands early and provide food and drink on all match days.
